Dry ice cleaning for bulk handling & port equipment

Bulk-handling sites combine conveyors, transfer points, mechanical drives and mobile equipment. Dry ice may suit selected deposits where introducing wash water is undesirable; it is not a substitute for moving bulk material.

The maintenance objective

Start with the component.

Removing grease and selected deposits from drives, guards and accessible structures can prepare them for maintenance inspection. The cargo, dust, adjacent operations and terminal access requirements all affect the cleaning plan.

Discuss the component, site requirements and maintenance window with M&S. Suitability, availability and any specialist involvement are confirmed before work is agreed.

All industry applications

Component. Deposit. Access.

Tell us what needs cleaning, why it needs cleaning and how the area can be reached. Those details are more useful than an industry label alone.

Assets & deposits

Equipment & cleaning considerations.

Conveyor rollers & transfer structures

Selected accessible carryback and material deposits.

Confirm belt isolation and whether bulk removal must happen first.

Gearboxes, drives & guards

Grease and external build-up before inspection.

Agree guarding access, component protection and collection.

Workshop & mobile plant components

Suitable oily residues on accessible maintenance surfaces.

Separate component cleaning from whole-vehicle washing.

Motors & generator housings

Selected external contamination within a controlled scope.

Electrical involvement requires relevant personnel and isolation.

Planning & controls

Define the work.
Protect the asset.

Assess dust, combustible material, adjacent operations and where removed residue can travel. Containment and disposal must suit the actual cargo or contaminant.

Include terminal access, inductions, work permits, access equipment and the maintenance window. Confirm contractor entry and work-area access before scheduling the clean.
